Sinopse
This collection of short stories illustrates the development of the English detective genre, beginning with Conan Doyle´s god-like master sleuth Sherlock Holmes and his powers of observation, rationality and scientific deduction in a Victorian world seen as triumphant over misterious forces. Moving through the Golden Age of crime fiction - where the ideological element disappears and the detective story becomes an intellectual game - this survay reaches the modern period, where traditional values are challanged and the spotlight is on the criminal - anti-hero in a world no longer to be regulated but rather analysed and understood.
