READING STRATEGIES FOR COMPUTING

Reading Strategies for Computing is suitable for Brazilian students of computing, professionals or trainee professionals at intermediate or upperintermediate levels who need to develop their reading skills for study or Professional purposes. The course book consists of 14 units covering a wide range of strategies needed for effective and efficient reading. Attention is concentrated on reading skills, content, vocabulary acquisition and terminology. Reading strategies for computing: Encourages learners to be efficient readers; Adopts an interactive approach focusing on the relationship between writer-text-reader; Starts from what people know rather than from what people don´t know, and contains stimulating texts from a wide variety of British and American sources; Includes a glossary of technical terms (English-Portuguese) and acronyms related to the field of computing; Can be used by nonspecialist teachers; Includes a teacher´s guide; Can be used in the classroom or by learners working independently; Presents explanations in Portuguese; Can be used in combination with other material.
